"Football and Society" Panel Speaker

Dr Chris Stone
(Football Unites Racism Divides)

Chris Stone is Lead Researcher at Football Unites Racism Divides (FURD), an anti-racist youth and community organisation based in Sheffield. He is currently working on a three-year Big Lottery funded research project, ‘Football – A shared sense of belonging?’, which explores the role of football in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers living in Britain.

He has previously worked at Sheffield Hallam University as a lecturer within the field of Sport and Cultural Studies and as a researcher on the Football and its Communities project commissioned by the Football Foundation. Research interests include football, fandom, and the aesthetics of the ordinary.
